Phillip Roberts claims this Group 5 Bowling family and quite likely there are others we've not yet connected.  I believe my Thomas Boone Roberts who married Nancy Bowling, d/o "Bad" Eli Bowling, believed to be the son of James Bolling of Clay County is related to Phillip's Roberts. James Bolling and Christopher Bolling appear on the 1800 Lee County Census -- as I recall.  I don't have that record in front of me.  You are always welcome to join in the conversation and tell us more about your line.

Is anyone else here related to William BOWLING born 1821-22, 
lived in Lee County, Virginia, married Cynthia HALL? I'm 
descended from their son Hiram BOWLIN who m. Emily RUTHERFORD. 
 
On the "Bolling Family DNA Group 5 Index of DNA Participants 
and Researchers" at http://bolling5.com/dnaindex.shtml 
William is number 4608. The chart does not list his location 
or a researcher. 
 
I'd be willing to be listed as researcher, but don't know if 
I'm eligible because I don't know who was tested. 
 
Does anyone know who was tested for this line, or would another 
male-line descendant be willing to be tested? The current test 
is only 12 markers. We could get much more information from 
testing more markers. I'd be willing to help pay for this. 
FTDNA has a sale this month so it's a good time. 
 
Cousin Phillip Roberts (are you here?) and I did a lot of census 
research several years ago, and concluded that William was a 
grandson of William BOWLING (ca. 1745 - before 1820) and Ann 
UNKNOWN (July 1749 - 27 Nov 1853, age 104).
