[Bolling5] Searching for Larkin Bolin

Diane and all,

There were, I guess, numerous Larkin Bollings.   One ends up somewhere down in 
GA I am thinking top of my head....and one was the chain carrier and or 
mentioned in the deed of the John & Jesse Bolin deed of land on Bumpass Fork in 
Montgomery/Randolph Co. North Carolina on the Little River.   He is connected to 
Shubal Bolling and Amy Bolin who end up somewhere in Indianna....I will try to 
search and find out where sometime today.   I used to know, but old age has set 
in.   Shubal and Larkin are both mentioned in the John / Jesse Bolin deed of 
late 1700's....in NC.  Harbard Bolin/Bolen is with them later in Indianna.

You are correct that the age is right for the one in Indianna to be the one 
mentioned in the 1840 census....but since Larkin & Jane Stewart of the line of 
John Bolling of Sullivan Co. Tenn. who connects to Toliver [his son] is still 
there at least until 1900 census.....at one time Larkin and Jane live with 
Toliver and Talitha even.   So I am thinking that this Larkin wife Jane Stewart 
is the grandson of John Bolling of Sullivan co. Tenn.
That is the way that Kathyn McKowen had them in her family tree.   I think that 
the 1840 Larkin must be an uncle....but he is NOT mentioned as a son to John.   
Now that doesn't bother me....cause we don't have a will or an estate settlement 
to say differently.   I would think we know he had Isaac and John Jr. and 
Toliver so perhaps a son Larkin as well or two grandsons named Larkin.   

It is quite possible that I have this totally confused.   I certainly haven't 
focused on that age...and it does make a difference.  

Later today I will try to write for you the image number of each census where 
you can find Toliver and Talitha's son Larkin Bolin and his wife Jane so you can 
see he is still in Sullivan Co. Tenn. at least to 1900....some censi say Bristol 
area.

Help me figure this out. 

One more thing....in one of the censi low and behold John Parris of South 
Carolina [rremember my James Bolling whose wife is Anne Pickens was the brother 
in law of  Wm. Paris and Dorcus Pickens of South Carolina]....any way ....John 
Parris is right there by Larkin and Jane Bowlin.   TOO STRANGE!

Hazael,

I don’t know of a Larkin Boling from Group 6, and there isn’t another one in 
Indiana that I know of in this time period. There was a Larkin Bolen in Blount, 
TN in 1860, but he was only 4 years old. The Larkin Bolins in Joe & Val line all 
stay in Tennessee. This Larkin (son of John) and his children were all born in 
Tennessee, except for Nancy the youngest who was born in Indiana. He disappears 
from Sullivan after 1840 and appears in Indiana in 1850. His age also fits.

Okay, I can see from this that you did mean Indianna.   How do you separate this 
Larkin in Indianna from the Larkin of Montgomery/Randolph Co. NC Larkin whom 
also went to Indianna?

I am searching for links to Larkin Bolin b abt. 1800 in Tn.  Listed in Floyd Co. 
In.  1850 census  with Sarah, 51, James, 23, Elizabeth 21 and Susan 15; In 1860 
he is in Washington Co. In with Sarah, 63, Susanah 24 and Nancy, 2; and in 1870 
he is back in Greenville with Susan, 33 and Nancy 13. Daughter Susan/Susanah 
married Civil War vet John Wayman in 1877.  I will be grateful for any 
information on him.  Nancy was my great grandmother and died in 1883 at 27.
