Corrections: Okay ladies, I was wrong about whose line is mentioned in the
deed....which is dated 1784. It is Shubal Boling's line. I do still have the
photocopy in my computer.
SO: 1784 Shubal must have been born ca. 1764? John & Jesse also before
that. The William Boling who goes to Owen Co. Indianna is b. 1770-1780.
Younger than either the named shubal, John or Jesse.

I agree with you on this except for one thing....the Larkin Bolin mentioned in
the deed from John Bolin to his son Jesse is dated 178? something isn't it?
My computer has crashed and I don't have that still quickly available in my
scanned docs. I know not much later than 1800....so the Larkin there....who
owned land that was a boundary must be a brother to that Jesse...He would have
had to have been born ca 1770-80 I would think to be mentioned.
I sent that deed to Ernie, Doris, and Diane long ago. Hope you still have it
someplace.
And I have found the spot where the other part of that family from
Montgomery/Randolph Co. NC moved....it was town of Morgan in Owen Co. Indianna:

and I note in the 1840 census there that there is a William boling with them age
70-80 so born ca. 1760-70. Also note Charles Boling.

Note ladies: I believe the William Bowlin who was the heir of Beneager Randall
is the one b. ca. 1760-1770.
You can find Beneager Randall very near to Benager Bowling and Randall Bowlin
in the 1790 or 1800 census of either Randolph Co. NC or Montgomery Co. NC.

Larkin does seem to be a popular name amongst the group 5 Bolins.
I did find the Group 6 Larkin Boling finally in Indiana – he was living with his
father Jesse Boling and a bunch of siblings in Washington Co., IN in 1850. This
Larkin was born 1829 in Indiana, his father Jesse was born in North Carolina.
This Larkin was about 30 years younger than the Larkin Bolin we are talking
about.
I am positive John Bolin of Sullivan had a son named Larkin who was born ca 1800
– that is the logical thing since he is in Sullivan County in 1830 & 1840. In
1830, Larkin lives next door to Isaac who IS a known son of John Sr. In the
1840 Sullivan Co. census, Larkin is living 6 doors away from Tolliver & thus
John Sr since John lived with Tolliver in that time period.
Tolliver’s son Larkin was born 1833 so also much younger than the Larkin we are
talking about. Tolliver’s son Larkin would be a nephew of the Larkin who went to
Indiana between 1840 & 1850, and thus a grandson of John Sr. No doubt, Tolliver
named his son after his brother Larkin. Larkin & Jane (Stewart) Bolin married
ca. 1860 and always lived in Sullivan County. He died there in 1904.

There were, I guess, numerous Larkin Bollings. One ends up somewhere down in
GA I am thinking top of my head....and one was the chain carrier and or
mentioned in the deed of the John & Jesse Bolin deed of land on Bumpass Fork in
Montgomery/Randolph Co. North Carolina on the Little River. He is connected to
Shubal Bolling and Amy Bolin who end up somewhere in Indianna....I will try to
search and find out where sometime today. I used to know, but old age has set
in. Shubal and Larkin are both mentioned in the John / Jesse Bolin deed of
late 1700's....in NC. Harbard Bolin/Bolen is with them later in Indianna.
You are correct that the age is right for the one in Indianna to be the one
mentioned in the 1840 census....but since Larkin & Jane Stewart of the line of
John Bolling of Sullivan Co. Tenn. who connects to Toliver [his son] is still
there at least until 1900 census.....at one time Larkin and Jane live with
Toliver and Talitha even. So I am thinking that this Larkin wife Jane Stewart
is the grandson of John Bolling of Sullivan co. Tenn.
That is the way that Kathyn McKowen had them in her family tree. I think that
the 1840 Larkin must be an uncle....but he is NOT mentioned as a son to John.
Now that doesn't bother me....cause we don't have a will or an estate settlement
to say differently. I would think we know he had Isaac and John Jr. and
Toliver so perhaps a son Larkin as well or two grandsons named Larkin.
It is quite possible that I have this totally confused. I certainly haven't
focused on that age...and it does make a difference.
Later today I will try to write for you the image number of each census where
you can find Toliver and Talitha's son Larkin Bolin and his wife Jane so you can
see he is still in Sullivan Co. Tenn. at least to 1900....some censi say Bristol
area.
Help me figure this out.
One more thing....in one of the censi low and behold John Parris of South
Carolina [rremember my James Bolling whose wife is Anne Pickens was the brother
in law of Wm. Paris and Dorcus Pickens of South Carolina]....any way ....John
Parris is right there by Larkin and Jane Bowlin. TOO STRANGE!

I don’t know of a Larkin Boling from Group 6, and there isn’t another one in
Indiana that I know of in this time period. There was a Larkin Bolen in Blount,
TN in 1860, but he was only 4 years old. The Larkin Bolins in Joe & Val line all
stay in Tennessee. This Larkin (son of John) and his children were all born in
Tennessee, except for Nancy the youngest who was born in Indiana. He disappears
from Sullivan after 1840 and appears in Indiana in 1850. His age also fits.

I am searching for links to Larkin Bolin b abt. 1800 in Tn. Listed in Floyd Co.
In. 1850 census with Sarah, 51, James, 23, Elizabeth 21 and Susan 15; In 1860
he is in Washington Co. In with Sarah, 63, Susanah 24 and Nancy, 2; and in 1870
he is back in Greenville with Susan, 33 and Nancy 13. Daughter Susan/Susanah
married Civil War vet John Wayman in 1877. I will be grateful for any
information on him. Nancy was my great grandmother and died in 1883 at 27.
