I welcome any information on Larkin and his ancestors. If anyone needs a lookup in Randolph County NC I plan to be there in August and will be happy to do so. I will look for a Bolling/Bolin file and copy it in case.
The library has records that are not in the state archives but this will be my first trip. Moses Bell, husband of Nancy Bolin, was born in Indiana. His great grandparents John and Rachel? Bell migrated from Randolph County and was a property owner by 1817 in Indiana. Nancy and Moses had three sons, John Arthur, Walter Clarence and Charles Edward.
How many generations back can you connect your Larkin? Has anyone found Larkin as a maiden name somewhere? It seems as thought there should be a connection generations ago. I don't have a good grasp of DNA and have not had much luck with my dad's test for Bell DNA.

I have nothing on Larkin other than the census records 1850-1870 that I can link
o my Susan/Susanah and Nancy. There are the three chilren in the 1850 census,
ames whom I believe died during the Civil War, Elizabeth who may have married
oah Floyd in 1851 and Susan. My guess is that Nancy was an out of wedlock
hild of Susan's. But since Nancy died so young my grandfather had no memories
f her. He was a baby when she died and his father remarried. I have a wedding
ertificate of Nancy Bolin and Moses Bell and her death record but neither have
ames of parents.(Another brick wall) I have noticed the Bolin in Randolph Co.
C because I am researching the Bell line there. I have not looked at Bastardy
onds in Indiana yet but that is one possible source. Thanks so much for all
he responses. I have to say I have had more from the Bolin site than any other
venues I have explored!

According to an July 26, 1878 Gainsville, GA newspaper obituary "SHUBAL BOLIN
ied at Lula (Hall Co.) on the 15th, aged 104 years. He was a veteran of the War

suspect the GA Larkin S. Bolin is some descendant of this Shubal.

As you noticed, I am a Diane, too. I will try to remember to sign my messages as
iane J. to avoid confusion!
Yes, I would agree that Nancy was probably an out-of-wedlock child of Susan?s. I
ad figured that because Larkin?s wife Sarah would have been too old to be
iving birth at the time of Nancy?s birth.
In Indiana, I found mention of a bastard child in one of my lines in the court
rders or circuit court records (can?t remember which), and those records named
he father & mother of the child. The grandfather in this case was filing suit
gainst the baby?s father for support for the child after the baby?s mother died
t a young age. You may be able to find more info in the court records of
hatever county Nancy was born in. It?s a fishing expedition, but sometimes pays
ff!
I don?t have a maiden name for Larkin?s wife Sarah ? unfortunately, the early
arriage records do not exist any more in Sullivan County, TN. I do have their
on James Bolin married to Mary Ann Critchlow (date of marriage: 31 Jan. 1860 in
aviess Co., IN). He did die in the Civil War in TN on 31 Dec. 1863 & is buried
n Knoxville National Cemetery. Is that what you have? I have one child for
ames and Mary Ann ? a son named John Larkin Bolin b. Jul. 1862 and died 11 June
900. He married a Hester Woodruff.

He was in the 65th Ind. Inf., Co. I (that is a capital i). Don?t know if he died

Glad to have Nancy?s spouse and when she died. Thanks for that. Also I looked
or Noah Floyd and Elizabeth Bolin. Found their marriage record in Floyd County
nd also his death record, and their 1880 and 1900 census. Since they named one
f their sons Larkin, I think it is a good bet this is Larkin?s daughter
lizabeth.
What would you like to know about John Bolin Sr & wife Elizabeth of Sullivan,
N? His descendants who have DNA tested are closely related to several of our
eople on the Bolling5 site, including my ancestor, Christopher Bolin b. 1787 in
awkins, TN (Yes, he did spell his name Bolin as did John Bolin of Sullivan,
N).

Speaking of the Bell family, Group 7 Bollings don?t jbiw what happened to John
olling, Jr (son of John Bolling Sr. and Ursula Bell) and his wife Susannah Bell
rom Orange Co., VA. They just disappear after about 1840 from Oglethorpe Co.,
A, and we have records of only a few of their children. Did Nancy Bolin and
oses Bell marry in Randolph Co., NC? And when? I?m sending a copy to Janice
riel, expert on the Bell family of Orange Co., VA.

I did find more about James Bolin on Footnote ? his widow, Mary Ann Bolin, filed
or a widow?s pension on 23 Feb. 1864 and was awarded pension in May 1864, Cert.
23105. A minor child pension was awarded also, cert. # 99293. These records
ould all be in the same pension file at the National Archives. You can obtain
opies of the pension file from them. There could be interesting stuff in it
uch as affidavits from fellow soldiers of James?, and/or his father Larkin may
ave written an affidavit. There would also be proof of marriage and info on the
oldier?s death.

860 he is in Washington Co. In with Sarah, 63,?Susanah 24 and Nancy, 2; and in
870 he is back in Greenville with Susan, 33 and Nancy 13.?Daughter
usan/Susanah married Civil War vet John Wayman in 1877.? I will be grateful for
any information on him.? Nancy was my great grandmother and died in 1883 at 27.?

There are just a lot of Larkin Bolins. This Clayton Boling was born in NC so
hey may be Group 6.
Diane?s Larkin that she is inquiring about was born ca 1800 in Tennessee.

I have nothing on Larkin other than the census records 1850-1870 that I can link
o my Susan/Susanah and Nancy. There are the three chilren in the 1850 census,
ames whom I believe died during the Civil War, Elizabeth who may have married
oah Floyd in 1851 and Susan. My guess is that Nancy was an out of wedlock
hild of Susan's. But since Nancy died so young my grandfather had no memories
f her. He was a baby when she died and his father remarried. I have a wedding
ertificate of Nancy Bolin and Moses Bell and her death record but neither have
ames of parents.(Another brick wall) I have noticed the Bolin in Randolph Co.
C because I am researching the Bell line there. I have not looked at Bastardy
onds in Indiana yet but that is one possible source. Thanks so much for all
he responses. I have to say I have had more from the Bolin site than any other
venues I have explored!
