It still seems highly unlikely, and would be a wild goose chase. The
processioning record you cited has Francis Amoss & William Dillon, & several
others already known to be associates of William Bowling, so it doesn’t seem
likely there would suddenly be a Bolling heir from somewhere else plunked down
in the middle of our people. It would be a stretch to think there is somehow a
link to Dragon Swamp when all the Bowlings in Cumberland at this time period are
ours. If you had actual records showing some other Bowlings in Cumberland county
besides ours, it might be worth considering.

Below are the records I have for William Bowling and shows his associates:

Cumberland Co., VA deeds:

land and premises above granted, with the appurtenances, for and during the term
of 99 years from thence next ensuing if the said John Witch and Mary, his wife,

William Bolling, the rent of one ear of Indian corn at and upon January 1, and
if it shall happen that the yearly rent of one ear of Indian corn shall be
behind and unpaid by the space of 21 days next after the day of payment on which
the same ought to be paid, being lawfully demanded, and no distress can be made
for the same, then and from thenceforth it shall and maybe lawful for the said
William Bolling into the said lands or tenements hereby demised, to reenter,
