[Bolling5] Easleys on the 1800 Greenville Dist. Census

Yes, and then later, one of these Easley's moves over to Pendleton Dist. SC -
around and about at the town Easley named for him and my James Bolling lives
very very near to that area.  But I think it is not just the same list...yet my
James Bolling's land deeds mentions land of Martin Hewlett.   The Griffin named
person might connect to my Pickens who have Griffin connections but I haven't
traced it out.  And the Greens connect to one of the Bolling/Borlan
families....Someone of a "B" family married Martha Green I believe it was.   I
think top of my head that it is the ones who connect to the Rammages.

I guess one could spend a year or so researching all of the connected people on
this one census page.

I believe you all have discussed the Easley family before, and I was curious
about the Pleasant Easley and Thomas Easley on the list.  I found a very long
post on Gen Forum which traces these SC Easleys back to Goochland and earlier to
Henrico Co., VA.
It's located here: http://genforum.genealogy.com/easley/messages/1743.html

The Easley family married into the Colemans, which also married into my Price
family who we have discussed.  I believe it's the same Coleman family.
Also, there are a number of interesting entries about "John Bolling, Gentleman"
of Henrico Co. VA, such as:

"Warner, Pauline Pearce. Henrico County Virginia Orphans' Court Book 1677-1739.
Tappahannock, Va., 1963.
p. 106. Aug. 20, 1711. John Easly by his petition Setts forth that he has
marryed the Daughter of Jeremiah Benskin and therefore prays order for her
estate which is in the hands of John Bolling Gentleman, the said Bolling appears
and assumes to pay on Account of the said Easly to Abraham Womack the Sum of
five pounds five Shillings current money and also promises to pay the said Easly
thirty Six pounds ten Shillings in goods at fifty per cent on the first Cost or
in Tobacco at one penny per pound, either of which payments is to be at the
election of the said Easly, and in full Satisfaction for his wifes estate, to
which the said Easly Consents."

It appears that John Bolling of Henrico Co., VA was the guardian of Mary Benskin
who married John Easley, and they later sue Bolling for her father's estate..
I'm also interested in the above case since it mentions the involvement of my
8th gr-grandfather Abraham Womack.

Here's some more later and it looks like Bolling is now the plaintiff but
decides not to prosecute:

Henrico Co., VA, Court Minute Book 1719-1724, p. 186. June Court 1722. In the
action of Case between John Bolling Plt. and John Easly Deft. for eight pounds
four shillings & seven pence Current mony due by account the Deft. being
arrested but not appearing and the Sherif having failed to return bail therefore
on the Plts. motion Judgment for the said mony with costs is granted him aft.
the Deft. and John Soane Sherif on condition that if the Deft. appears at the
next Court then this Judgm. to be void.
Henrico Co., VA, Court Minute Book 1719-1724, p. 194. Aug. Court 1722. The
action of Case between John Bolling Plt. and John Easly Deft. is dismist the
Plt. not prosecuting the same.

Notes for Mary Benskin:
Warner, Henrico Orphans Court, p. 93. "Att an Orphs Court Held at Varina for the
County of Henrico the twentieth day of August 1705. . . . Capt. John Bolling
haveing in his Custody the Estate Belonging to the orph. of Jeremy Buskin [sic]
in his Custody Doth in open Court promise to give bond for the same."
pp. 94-95. 20 August 1706. "It is ordered That Capt. John Bolling Doe give Bond
for what Estate he hath in his Custody belonging to the orph. of Jeremiah
Benskin Deceased.
p. 98. 20 August 1707. "It is ordered that Capt. John Bolling do give bond with
Secty for what Estate he hath in his Custody belonging to the orph. of Jer:
Benskin Decd.

Children of John Easley and Mary Benskin are:
       2       i.       John Easley, born Bet. 1711 - 1715 in probably Henrico
County, Virginia; died Bef. Aug 1746 in Goochland County, Virginia; married
Joyce Allen Bet. 1730 - 1735.
ii.       William Easley, born Abt. 1714 in probably Henrico
County, Virginia; died Bef. 1753 in probably Virginia; married <Unnamed>.

So if I understand this all, we have Bollings living right next to Easleys in
Greenville District, SC in 1800, and these same Easleys' grandparents were
embroiled in a family estate legal case with "John Bolling, Gentleman" back in
Henrico Co., VA.
Very curious...

Mike
