Hazael --
Christopher Clark married Penelope Johnson of New Kent/Hanover. Clark researchers say her father was Edward Johnson. Are we talking about the same Johnson/Johnston family?

All,
Below is a family tree info on the Drury Johnston who lived near to James Bolin in Cumberland Co. NC census. 1800 or 1810.

The Bolins intermarried with this Johnston family there.

Subject: [Bolling5] Avent in NC

Avent is my line and I suspect that the Peter Avent mentioned in the following is one of the sons of my 6th great-grandfather Col. Thomas Avent, d. 1757 Sussex Co., VA. Col. Thomas' 1756 will mentions a son named Peter.
A number of Col. Thomas Avent's sons went on to NC. My line is Col. Thomas' son Thomas who died in Northhampton Co., NC in 1752 at the age of 40. I don't have a Joseph Avent in my database but he may be Peter Avent's son.

Betty --
I've looked at the Bethea's who married into your line of Bollings. The Bethea research state they came from Virginia before moving to Cumberland/Garnett NC. I've not been able to locate them in Virginia. Is there an odd spelling of the name I'm overlooking?

The reason the Avents [see my earlier e-mail below] are so interesting is that a) they married Bakers who are claimed by Group 5 and 2) the Bakers claim their early female ancestor was a Bolling.... and I believe that to be true. These Bakers are well documented in Goochland and Prince Edward Co., VA and they are related to Hazael's [Group 5] Rev. John Thompson's line, 3) and Douglas Baker lived near Christopher and James Bolling while they were in Goochland/Cumberland Co., VA. There is a Bolling Baker and the name Douglas would suggest a Douglas marriage. As I recall both Hazael, Doris, and Yvonne had Douglas' in their lines.
